Theatre 360 is a children’s theatre group that is dedicated to providing theatre arts education and performance opportunities to children and teens of all cultures and levels of interest.
Started in 1999 as Pasadena Junior Theatre, our goal is to give our students the skills and experience they need to stage professional-level dramatic plays and musicals. They learn performance techniques such as acting, voice and dance, plus they are taught the technical skills to work backstage on lighting, set design, costuming, stage management and more.
We recently changed our name from Pasadena Junior Theatre to better reflect the kind of experience children and teens gain from our theatre company. Theatre 360 gives our students a 360-degree experience in the theatre. We are the only local company that has students onstage as well as handling the technical aspects of our productions. Our classes and performances give students a complete theatre experience.
When we started, most of our students had little or no theatre experience and they were just learning how to act, sing, and dance. Now, after working with them for many years, their skills no longer would be considered “junior.” In fact, our students have been admitted to prestigious performing arts high schools, colleges, top Hollywood agencies, and professional productions throughout the Los Angeles area.
Theatre 360 Classes
The philosophy of Theatre 360 is to provide students with a well-rounded education in the performing arts. The “Come Play With Us” classes are for those students who want to experience the joy of the performing arts. The “Immersion Arts” series of classes are for more serious students who may be developing their skills to perform professionally. Our classes are open to students from 3-19 years of age.
All of our classes are taught by theatre professionals who provide their students with a performing arts education that teaches skills beyond what they get from attending play rehearsals. Theatre 360 offers classes year round and during our summer camp program.
Classes, which are offered after school and on Saturdays, provide a solid technical foundation in a nurturing environment. We offer complete instruction in four areas:
Acting
Develops the actor as an individual artist and effective member of a creative ensemble
Voice
Introduces students to fundamental vocal techniques including breath control, phrasing, enunciation, interpretation, and presentation
Dance
Students benefit from the structure and discipline of a progressive dance training program lead by talented, professional dancers
Theatre Tech
Introduces students to the professional theatre technical skills involved in Set Design and Stage Management, Costume and Make-up Design, and Lighting and Sound Design
Each specially designed course draws from specific techniques to develop the actor’s mind, voice, and body for a confident and honest performance before a live audience.
Theatre 360 Productions
Theatre 360 Productions offers students an opportunity to perform in professional-level plays, as well as handle the technical aspects of each show.
- Annually, we offer five productions:
- A winter MainStage play in March
- A spring experimental play in May
- Two summer musicals
- A fall MainStage Musical in December
We believe that being an actor, dancer or vocalist isn’t just about being in a show, it’s about learning the skills and techniques necessary to become a true artist. Therefore, all students must register for a class in order to audition for our shows.
We are unique in that Theatre 360 students experience the thrill of the theatre because they do it all! There are few adults involved in the actual performances, so although we’re there to help, we don’t get in the way. Students fill all the roles:
- Lead and Supporting Actors
- Ensemble Cast
- Dancers
- Stage Managers
- Assistant Directors
- Lighting and Sound Designers
- Costumers Set
- Designers
